Norah IS a big sister!

In: domestic, milestones, process, transracial

Charlotte Marie was born Sunday October 5 at 8:02PM. She was 5 pounds 10 ounces and 18.5 inches long. She came home to us this afternoon at 3:30PM. Here’s some pictures of her homecoming!
(Many thanks to our friend Steph for joining us to photograph our family as we met our daughter.)
When Charlotte […]

No Words.

In: adoption, domestic, family, fundraisers, party, process, transracial

It’s Sunday night about 11:45PM.
We have raised $12,600.
There are no words to describe how humbled we are that you would share with us. It is nothing we have done - it is ALL God and we thank you for your obedience to His call.
We spent the weekend in West TN celebrating Granddaddy’s 60th Birthday. […]

If you haven’t visited this blog in a few days, you’re going to want to click here to get caught up before you read this post.
I want to give you the amazing update on our fundraising progress. I asked for your help on Tuesday night at 9:30PM. Our total as of 5:00PM today […]

We need $12,000 in 48 hours…
because Norah is going to be a big sister.
And because her birthmother has just asked us to adopt the baby – Norah’s full biological sibling.
And he or she could be born any day!
We would have liked to have come up with a clever fundraiser, but to be honest, we don’t […]

Happy Birthday Noah

In: adoption, church, friends, party

It’s a cool story how we came to be friends with little Noah and his family! His Mom, Kim, contacted me about a Celebrating Adoption photo session for their family in honor of Noah’s little brother Josh’s adoption from Kazakhstan. But she also casually mentioned that she heard from a friend (remember Gretchen […]

I can’t believe in all my years working for the Boys & Girls Club that I never ever went to the Discovery Center. I mean, I knew it was wonderful and heard LOTS of great feedback about it every time we sent the kids there on a trip - I just never happened to […]

Whew. It’s been a whirlwind of a day. You know the kind of day that seems like it could have been about 3 days packed into one? That was today. But in a good way.
This morning we ran errands…I needed to pick up Mary Elizabeth’s gift from the Peanut Gallery Toy […]

Adopting August

In: adoption, domestic, friends, personal, process, transracial

Today we’re excited for our friends Maris & Steven! They have been chosen to be the adoptive parents of a baby BOY, due to be born on Oct 2. Please join us in praying for this mother and her baby, and for Maris and Steven, as they continue on their journey together.

Hair Clips

In: adoption, baby, fashion, gear, style, transracial

Styling Norah’s hair is challenging and fun for me. It’s fun to play with different clips and patterns and twists (and one day braids, etc). Currently the mini spider claw clips are working great on top of some little twisty puffs. I got creative this week and split the front two puffs […]

Disney’s The Princess & The Frog has been in the works for a while now and is widely anticipated as it features the first African American Disney princess. The film is set in New Orleans, which is promising for the like-ability of the soundtrack. It’s set to debut in late 2009, so we […]
